From the sharp contraction of the economy beginning in March to the massive stimulus and recovery of many parts of the financial markets later in the year, 2020 was a year like no other. Where do we go from here and how should asset allocators position their clients’ portfolios? In this session, Matt Pallai, Head of Multi-Asset Solutions and Bryan Griffin, Vice President, at Harbor Capital Advisors, discusses the state of the economy and where Harbor sees opportunities and risks in 2021.
Harbor Capital Advisors
Matt is the Head of Multi-Asset Solutions at Harbor Capital Advisors, Inc. He leads the build out of a new investment capability that will focus on shaping the firm’s investment insights and creating multi-asset products to deliver client solutions. Prior to joining Harbor, Matthew spent 17 years as a portfolio manager at JPMorgan Asset Management, most recently managing Income strategies and leading the Advisory Portfolio Solutions investment team within their Multi Asset Solutions group. Before his time in the Multi Asset Solutions group, Matthew spent the first 14 years of his career within the Global Fixed Income group at JPMorgan Asset Management, managing securitized products and global unconstrained fixed income portfolios. He earned B.A. in Mathematics from Boston College, and M.A. in Economics from New York University.
Harbor Capital Advisors
Bryan is a regional investment consultant and vice president of Harbor Funds Distributors, Inc. He is responsible for business development and client service in the New England area. Prior to joining Harbor, Bryan was an internal wholesaler at Eaton Vance Distributors, Inc. in Boston, MA. Before his time at Eaton Vance, Bryan worked on the Investment Consulting team at Commonwealth Financial Network. He received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Rhode Island. Bryan is a CFP® professional and a member of the Financial Planning Association of Massachusetts.
The Roaring 2020s: The Global Economic & Financial Outlook for the Rest of the Decade

As we all know, 2020 has been a head-spinning year. Will the economic and financial outlook be just as crazy in 2021, or can we look forward to less turbulent times next year and beyond? Dr. Ed will provide us with a balanced view of the opportunities and risks that are likely to lie ahead. While there are certainly ongoing concerns about the health pandemic, political partisanship, and other challenges weighing on our economy, Dr. Ed will explain why he believes that the remainder of the current decade might turn out to be the Roaring 2020s.
Dr. Edward Yardeni
Dr. Yardeni is the President of Yardeni Research, Inc., a provider of global investment strategies and asset-allocation analyses and recommendations. He previously served as Chief Investment Strategist of Oak Associates, Prudential Equity Group, and Deutsche Bank’s US equities division in New York City. He was also the Chief Economist of CJ Lawrence, Prudential-Bache Securities, and EF Hutton. He taught at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business and was an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He also held positions at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and the US Treasury Department in Washington, D.C.
