The Financial Planning Association of Rhode Island invites you to this month’s education session:

What the New SEC and CFP® Board Rules Mean for Financial Planners

Presented by Steve Johnson, CFP® (Chairman, FPA-RI) and Donna Sowa Allard, CFP®, AIF® (President, FPA-RI)

This presentation will be an objective review of the revised Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct adopted by the CFP® Board and SEC Regulation Best Interest ("Reg BI").

Steve Johnson is Chairman of Johnson Lyman Wealth Advisors. He began his career as a financial planner in 1984 teaching Personal Financial Management and Investments courses for the University of Maryland in the European Division. He currently teaches candidates for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ credential the Survey of Personal Financial Planning and Investments in Personal Financial Planning courses for the University of California Santa Cruz Extension in Silicon Valley.  He is active in the development of standards for personal financial planning.

Donna is Vice President of Sowa Financial Group. Growing up, Donna planned to become a teacher.  However, after spending summers working in her father’s office, she realized that being an effective financial advisor was really about education - educating clients and empowering them to make good financial decisions.  Complimenting her role as a financial educator, Donna co-hosts the weekly "Back to Basics" edition of the MoneyTalk Radio program.

  • You may also RSVP by emailing Jean Nagle (jean.nagle@iiari.com)
